After a great vacation to Myrtle Beach, my wife, daughter and I got one day at home before heading back to our daily routine. We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and paint the columns on our new porch. After the morning trip to Lowe's for materials, we got underway with the taping, priming and painting the columns. They came out wonderful!
Our friend also came over to continue his work on our walkway. We're looking forward to seeing more of the walkway progress. Along with the walkway I will need to complete the drainage of the gutter which will need to run underground under the walkway. I will also need to install the porch ceiling, which is now more noticeable now that the columns are a finished white.

As of this past Saturday, the garden project is now underway. Maya and I rented a large tiller from Home Depot early Saturday morning and were able to till the area where we will be planting our garden. There were a ton of rocks that the tiller picked up (and so did we). It was good back breaking work and satisfying as well.
During the tilling we ended up breaking a couple bolts that held the back guard onto the tiller. After a quick trip to the local H.E.P. I was able to get the tiller fixed and safely operational. Shortly after that we broke a tine off the tiller. We continued on and after a couple hours of hard work we have our garden area tilled for the first time. Our next step in this project is to install the surrounding fence that will help (hopefully) keep out animals. We still have to purchase the fence, but did pick up a nice new maul for installing the fence posts. The fence will most likely begin to get installed either this week or coming weekend as we need to get planting outside very soon.
